The Harris County School District announces the approaching dates for the administration of the Georgia Milestones Assessments, as well as important tips and reminders.
The purpose of the test is to assess students’ mastery of essential skills and knowledge in ELA, math, science, and social studies. For this school year, Georgia Milestones testing will extend from April 20th through May 14th (see specific test days for each grade below).
The high school End of Course assessments in Literature & Composition II, Biology, Algebra Concepts & Connections, and US History at Harris County High School, PLC (Performance Learning Center), EOC (Educational Opportunity Center), and LEAP (Learning Essential Applications Proficiently Program) will count as 20 percent of students’ semester grades and serves as the final exam.
Please Note: ELA scores will be delayed until Fall 2026 due to this year’s implementation of Georgia’s New ELA Standards. Scores in math, science, and social studies will be available later this spring. Students who do not achieve a “developing learner” or above on the math assessment are subject to retesting in those subject areas in grades 5 and 8.
Attendance
Students should be in attendance on the test dates. Parents are encouraged to check calendars and reschedule any appointments as needed so their students may participate in testing as scheduled, rather than having to make the test up at a later time.
Tips
A few tips for test-taking include the following:
• Practice test-taking in advance to become familiar with how online testing works. Prior to testing dates, students should visit https://www.gaexperienceonline.com/ and click on “Tutorial” and “Test Practice, Guides and Samplers” for more information about the Georgia Milestones testing program.
• Be well-rested with a good night’s sleep and eat a well-balanced breakfast.
• On test days, arrive on time or a little early.
• On test days, bring Chromebooks to school, fully charged.
• Read the instructions and questions/answers thoroughly and review your work.
The HCSD is committed to providing students with the best possible education, with Georgia Milestones as an essential component of a well-balanced assessment system.
